Join us for a unique alpaca experience! Farmer Bill will guide you as you learn about these beautiful creatures and what is involved in raising and caring for them on the farm. He has many stories about the history of alpacas and happenings on the farm. Every alpaca has a name and personality!
Dress for farm conditions! Picture-taking is encouraged. No pets are allowed outside of the parking area. Do not bring food for the alpacas - treats will be provided for feeding. The farm is accessible by wheelchair or walker, with limited walking required. The one-hour tours are scheduled to start at the top of the hour, with plenty of time to meet and interact with the alpacas. As you depart, you will surely want to shop in our farm store - Pacatique - for domestic and imported alpaca fiber products. Donations to support the farm are gladly accepted. We accept most forms of payment. Call to arrange for Special Events.

We have transitioned to an online booking process for farm visits to help Farmer Bill maintain his sanity and mellow demeanor. The paid reservation should be a fee similar to past donation-based operations. OUR FARM IS SUPPORTED BY YOUR VISIT FEE, GENEROUS DONATIONS, AND SHOPPING IN OUR FARM STORE. PLEASE HELP US KEEP IT THIS WAY!
All farm visits must be booked using the online system. For other activities, such as shopping-only visits and special events, please call us to set a time or to discuss your needs. (860) 204-1646. We can also be reached by messaging or email for general inquiries.
We will be adding other activity types to booking as the capability is released by Openherd. Alpacas Yoga, Camp Fire (BYO) Happy Hours, and Alpaca Trekking are possibilities.
Take a break from the hustle and bustle and visit our picturesque little farm tucked away in the charming town of Chester! We are a small but mighty alpaca farm that focuses on making your farm visit the best stop of the day. Our six handsome boys and nine beautiful girls are eager to meet you.
Your farm tour will start with an introduction to our herd. They all have names and personalities. Some have stories to be told. Learn the fun facts about alpacas, their origin, history, and alpaca farming here in the USA. Farmer Bill will answer all of your questions. Safely interact with the animals, up close and personal. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and spend some time relaxing.
Before you depart, stop in our farm store, Pacatique. We carry an extensive collection of alpaca clothing accessories, including hats, scarves, shawls, mittens, gloves, socks, and some cozy throws. We have alpaca-themed toys for kids young and old. We also have yarn made from our animals’ fiber in various natural colors for the knitter!

Chakana Sky Alpacas is a place for raising alpacas that honors the heritage of the indigenous peoples and animals of the Andean region, exists in harmony with our native land and its wildlife and provides sanctuary to those in need.
The chakana cross has been interpreted by many as a symbol that maps the organizing principles and mythologies of ancient Incan culture. Alpacas and llamas were an essential part of this world. For this farm, it is a simple symbol of balance and connection of all things over time. With this in mind, our name was born one crisp Autumn day in 2015, looking across our hillside farm to a hawk riding the wind across the serene blue and white sky. Chakana Sky is that feeling.
We are a small farm, committed to responsible breeding and care of our alpacas to provide exceptional animals, fiber products and services that meet the needs of our customers and friends. Come join us on our journey!

Our farm started operations in 2016 with 3 fiber boys and 3 maiden females. We intend to grow the farm and maintain a herd of 12-15 huacaya alpacas, producing fiber, fiber products, and animals for sale. Composted manure too!
Our breeding program had a rough start. Atala lost her first cria in September 2016 1 day after birth. Angelina and Annie did not become pregnant or sustain pregnancy when first bred and again in 2016. Fall of 2017 we bred Atala successfully. We hoped to breed Annie and Angelina in late Spring 2018 for 2019 crias but were not successful. So it goes.
In April 2017 we re-homed 2 boys from Snow Angels Farm in VT which was closing. Both boys, Wildfire and Tahoe, are solid with nice fiber. Wildfire has established himself as the alpha male.

Atala, bred to Sterling Knight of Alpacaboose Farm in Oxford, CT, gave birth to a precious little cria named Amber on August 14th, 2018! Born at 17 lbs., she has doubled her weight as of 9/5/18 and is a beautiful, healthy little girl who loves to run and learn stuff from her Mom and aunties, Annie and Angelina. We have bred Annie with Sterling Knight and hope for a July 2020 cria.
In early November of 2019, we acquired 2 males and 4 females from Southwind Farms in Watertown, CT. All are solid animals with great genetics and fiber. We look forward to future crias!
Annie, bred to Sterling Knight of Alpacaboose Farm in Oxford, CT, gave birth to Luna on July 25, 2020! A little white fluffball.
Binne and Annabella surprised us with crias at the end of June 2022. Welcome, Chester and Alannah!
